Called my direct Cisco line on my work phone. Knew who I was and what my position in the company was. Thought it might be a vendor. Rattled through speech script so quickly that I realized this was a call scam.
Just received my second call from this number in 2 weeks. The first time, I had the same experience as others here: hard-to- understand accent, sound of many people talking in the background as in a call center. I just hung up after he started reading his script. It was clear that this was not going to be a "conversation"!
Guy with a heavy Indian accent on the phone giving obviously fake generic "American" name (today's winners were Ed Smith and Bob Jones...come on...at least be a LITTLE creative!). When you ask what company they are with they hesitate before stumbling over Technology News or VOIP News. Since I don't have the luxury of ignoring the calls I tell them (yet again) that I am not interested
7 calls in the past month for me. The two times I picked up I received the fake western name and they kept asking for permission to send me a white paper on VOIP to which I was not interested.
Just got a call from this number, apparently was referred to me by our CIO, asking for the head of IT etc, I'm not related to IT at all. I questioned why not talk to the CIO as they are the head of IT and apparently they were busy. What a donkey.
