I just received the same email for the amount of 795.56
Here's why I think it's a scam
1. It is from a gmail.com address. Sure tons of people use gmail, I do. But any legitimate business is going to use email with their own domain name (
[email protected])
2. I have never received a phone call or email about this but they say they've notified me many times.
3. I don't think they can communicate threats like this via email (I could be wrong)
4. There is no information in the email that identifies me like my name, account number etc.
5. They thank me for being their customer.
6. The word "pay" in "Pay day advance" and "Violation" in #3 of their letter are capitalized and shouldn't be - its an error.
7. The line that says "if you wish to take care of this debt, do revert back in the next 2 business days". The word "revert" is used incorrectly. It sounds like they used an online English translator
8. Along those same lines, the phone number is written with a +1 in front, a sign that this is from overseas, where a lot of this type of deception, scams and fraud originates from.
