I received the following text on my cell phone:  R you really trying to eliminate the fed student loan debt.  It is ur final chance to get ur prequal based on Obama's loan forgiveness plan.  Call at 6 pm.

I'm pretty sure this is a scam or a predatory lender.  I had my student loan forgiven already about 4 months ago.  The student loan forgiveness plan has clear instructions about who qualifies and what documentation you need.  You don't need professional assistance to complete this process.  If someone offers to negotiate the amount to be forgiven, their fee will most likely be much more than the tax you have to pay on the full amount.  They are probably trying to sell you a new loan, which you surely don't need if you qualify for forgiveness.
