I was contacted today at work via my cell phone with the same message. Your brother was in a car accident with my brother, my brother beat up your brother, he's messed up and he took him to my house. We put him upstairs and you have to give me $2000.00 or we will kill your brother..actually..he said.."get me the f...ing money you stupid [***] or I'll kill your f...ng brother" I informed him that since I'm new at paying ransoms for kidnapped relatives he should be more patient with me. He went off on me in Spanish, foul Spanish as I speak some and understand a lot more, I responded with NO ME JODA, really pissed him off..after another rant, he told me he was going to go upstairs and kill my f...ing brother and then he hung up..
I notified my nurse managers', the hospital security, and metro dade police department and filed a formal complaint..this is a felony. Apparently this is something that is occuring regularly and people have paid this "ransom". I was told this by the police who came to our ICU to investigate my complaint.
I'm puzzled as to how he knew our names..???
My brother and his family are fine, he is annoyed by the whole thing.
BTW. this guy suggested a Pulbix too, he also told me to get into my f...ing care and start driving, stop at a check/cash place?? what ever that is and somehow have that money end up in his hands.
Erika the exact same thing happened to me at 2:00 yesterday afternoon and I was completely caught off guard and did as he said for an hour straight. That is up until I wrote a number to the western union girl to call my brother to make sure he was ok before I sent money. When he answers her phone call I knew he was ok and it was a scam
Needless to say they didn't not get the money but instead an earful of Spanish and English foul language. This guy has to be stopped.
