Call was to give an estimate on a walk in tub. Salesman in our area only for the day. Not interested & hung up. Call came from WIRELESS CALLER #305-342-0308. How do these people get numbers if you're on a Do Not Call List?
The lady that spoke to me was very soft-spoken & polite but I told her we were not interested in a walk-in bath at this time - she didn't argue & we hung up. What bothered me was that we ARE on the Do Not Call Registry, plus the fact that I am always suspicious of a company that calls potential customers from an un-named cell phone number. BUT I really wanted to correct some of the misinformation on THIS site - okay, THIS 1 was a telemarketing call, but not all strange numbers are telemarketing. Charities & genuine opinion polls are also unrecognised numbers but they are (relatively) harmless. I work for a survey company, all WE collect are opinions, there are no strings & the DNC list does NOT apply to us - BUT state bye-laws usually prevent people like us from leaving messages. Charities are also bound by the no-message rule. However, genuine charities AND genuine opinion polls do NOT use cell phones to contact people - when we call someone, our survey company name comes up on caller IDs & so should that of any legitimate charity. (Again, though, you have to be careful of charities as there are so many bogus ones out there, whose owners & operators take a hefty 98% cut of the money they raise - yeah.) I love my job , I get to chat with the loveliest people, but I would never ask for money or business over the phone - if you want to contribute to a charity, do it as directly as you would a business deal - do it with the people you intend to have your money or your custom. There are WAY too many crooks out there!
Got a call this PM. Caller disconnected without saying anything. I am also on the "Do not call" list, but it seems to make no difference to these people. After reading this, I put on blocked caller list.
