Called today and yesterday. I have ties to Miami so I answered. My warranty expires this month so part of me listened. I got to the last step before running the file he told me to download, but I got smart, Google'd the number while we were on the phone and came across sites like this.
I said "Oh sorry. I have to go", but before that, to make sure it IS a scam, I asked for a call back number. He didn't give me the one he was calling on, but a different one - 408.659.4283.
He was speaking really aggressively towards me, and that rose my suspicion. "Ma'am are you there? Just press the button. Run the program ma'am it'll only take 5 minutes. Honestly. Ma'am, just do it now." "No. Bye, [***]."
SO PLEASE BEWARE! My suspicion was heightened even more considering just days before, Microsoft remotely fixed issues with my laptop and I didn't have to download a product that stated with" FREE".
telemarketer called repeatedly during the day and in the evening. And left message saying it is from Dell. Finally fed up and told them not to call, stopped for a few hours and then back calling again every hour. Filed complaint with FTC but not sure whether it would be useful, apparently it is from overseas but displayed as from Marathon FL.
This number called me repeatedly on 10/16/2015 and earlier in the week. Claimed that they were from DELL and that my computer was reporting problems to them. I asked them not to call, but they kept calling and they kept insisting that there was a problem even though I made it clear that I did not want them to call me. Evenutally I spoke to a "manager". The connection was very bad and I had trouble hearing them. I decided that I would waste their time while I was doing other things. I was not rude, just trying to have a conversation. I think the "manager" realized that I had decided to waste their time. He then became extremely rude. Here are a few of the things that I could understand that he said to me. "Are you pregnant?" "Did your husband leave you?" "Do you have a "di*k?" He used other foul language. I wish I had a recorder handy.
Called me during the day, said in foreign half english language He was calling from Dell and would like me to give him a time of day in front of my computer. Later on he called saying my service tag was xxxxx it was not. Than he transfer d phone to his super visor. I was told to do few things than tell him what numbers appeared in box gave him #`s and now he had control of my mouse. Showing me in event viewer How hackers was on my computer and it would be expensive to rid of them. Why would Dell be concerned about problems you have ?? I unplugged computer as it shut down lost connection with Scammer. Be aware!!
Well known type of scam, they pretend to be tech support for a company, usually pretending to be microsoft or dell, and will trick you, take over your computer and possibly scam you out of money. Don't fall for this.
