An alternate way to screw with them is to tell them your spouse handles the credit card and you'll go get him/her. Then leave the phone off the hook and go about your business. It's a good idea to have the tv or radio playing, so they'll know the connection is still live and you haven't hung up on them. I've had these idiots still waiting 10 or 15 minutes later when I finally picked up the phone again. At that point I let them know what I think of them and hang up.

While you were waiting on hold, I'm quite sure this guy did not just have you on hold, but was also breaking into your phone/internet connection. Had it happen to me...so be on the safe side and get your computer protected and you may possibly have to get your numbers changed to prevent further calls. They steal information off your computer and monitor your online activity while they are in there.
