WARNING--BEWARE!! These callers are B I G credit card criminals, known as the card service scammers. Under NO circumstances give your credit card number to these lowlifes, or you will regret it forever!
The card service scammers WILL 'service' our credit cards, BUT, when they finish 'servicing' them, they will have NO available credit remaining! People that are fooled into having their cards 'serviced' will have a MINIMUM of $795.00 charged to them, and many times the ENTIRE amount of credit remaining on the card. The card service scammers are a disgusting group of degenerates, who prey mainly on the low income and the elderly, but will cheat anyone that they can!
I am an "elderly" person and I find it offensive that many of the scams target us "oldies but goodies". We are not all senile.and vulnerable. The best defense against these people is to never answer the phone if you don' t recognize the name or phone number.
Yours is an excellent suggestion.
However, we older folk remember the days when phone calls were "important", and scammers did not abound. The automatic reaction to a ringing phone is still to pick it up, and listen (or talk).

One of the reasons that the card service scammers target the low income and the elderly is because these groups are less likely to have caller id and the internet to protect themselves.
