Yep, it is a a scam, run by the drug addicted card service scammers. You shouldn't think anything is weird or unexpected, when you're speaking to a person who is trying to make money for their habit, when they're desperate and high.
I received many calls like this one, Verizon has a program that tells me who is calling it appears on my TV screen, I can then pick up the phone knowing who is calling or just ignore it, also I have ten numbers that I blocked with Verizon at no extra charge, about once a month I change the numbers figuring that by now the particular calls have stopped being that I haven't answered any of them, I usually write the annoying calls down and then add them to my block list, I am sure that other phone company's have the same programs, I hope this helps somone.
i have to ditto many of what all have said. Got a call from this number, when I insisted for a company name was told "Card Services". When I informed the man (I'd say gentleman, but you'll understand why not shortly) that I would appreciate them taking my name and number off the calling list I was told to "Fu** Off". I then kindly informed him "Same to you sweetie" and hung up. WHY CAN'T SOMETHING BE DONE? Thought this was what the Do Not Call List was supposed to stop. Course I'm sure we can somehow blame the politicians with this one. They have to mess everything up - and only for money.
Don't believe what you see on the caller id when the drug-addicted "card services" scammers call. The card services scammers use all spoofed (false) numbers when calling us, in their efforts to fool us into giving them our credit card numbers so they can cheat us. Beware of these scummy lowlifes, and warn others before they are taken advantage of!
The do not call list generally works well with legitimate businesses. The card service scammers are far from legitimate--they are simply druggie criminals,out to cheat anyone they can. Criminals do not obey laws, including the do not call list.
