Got a call 11/23/12 from this number, caller called himself Michael, said he was from Verizon and my phone was going to be suspended because one of my payments had been returned. I said I would check on it. I called Verizon and they said I would be notified by an electronic voice or txt first. Also I was not in any danger. Financial dept. said to call them directly if another call comes through like that. There number is (866) 266-1445. This is not on the up and up. do not give any info them before checking with Verizon. I am calling Better B. Buer. also
Stated she was from Verizon and that my payment check was received damaged. I wanted to chat a little but she quickly hung up when I stated I paid the monthly bill electronically.
Got several calls over the weekend from this number--a guy named Jessie--claiming to be from my wireless company and that my check had bounced. He wanted a credit card to make sure my account didn't get suspended. The details didn't jive and he got shaky on his details. In the end, I called my wireless company and discovered it was a scam. "Jessie" wasn't too happy when he called back and I confronted him. He tried again the next day on a different number on the account. I reported him to my carrier.
November 10 was called by someone pretending to be from Verizon. The electronic payment was not cleared and needed to get our credit card or debit card info right now or our phone was to be shut off. Was a lie, because our folks pay our shared plan by check by mail, never by electronic funds, and Verizon wouldn't have called the secondary line, they would have called the primary phone number listed for billing. Called our parents and the check had really cleared and there was no problem. BE WARNED....TELL YOUR PARENTS, YOUR GRANDPARENTS, YOUR ELDERLY AUNTS, UNCLES AND FRIENDS....DO NOT GIVE OUT INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE!!!!!! THEY ARE OUT TO GET ANYBODY AND EVERYBODY THAT THEY CAN PREY UPON. Don't let it happen to someone you know and love!
