It's for local newspaper sales. They won't stop unless you call it back and request to NOT be called. Total BS. Also, don't just hang up after pressing the right number to not be called anymore. They make you confirm and then confirm again!!!!! WTF????? I had to press 3 to not be called, then press 1 when they said are you sure?, then press 1 again to confirm being removed from call list. That really sucks. Come on MO, what happened to do not call list????
Received a call from this number June 1. Answered it. A very nice man from St. Louis Post Dispatch began to inquire as to why I cancelled my subscription. I told him I moved to another state. He was very polite and said he would put that "in the notes" so I wouldn't be called again. Today, June 2, guess who called...
Have received incessant calls from this number, 314.254.0012, for the last several weeks. Coincidentally just a few weeks prior to my subscription to the St Louis Post Dispatch expiring. Once the subscription expired the frequency of the calls have increased to at least one a day, usually in the evening.
I haven't answered the calls, but am thankful for this posting/blog. The problem with calling their "do not call/unsubscribe" number is they will capture your number again for future use or selling to a third party.
If you have an iPhone (or any smart phone) you can block the number by going to settings, phone, blocked, add new. That should fix the problem.
Due to being unemployed, I cancelled my subscription to the St. Louis Post Dispatch because I'm on a very tight budget and cutting where I can. I got a revised billing statement for those papers I had received and it was finally correct, I paid it in full and have the cancelled check as confirmation. About two weeks ago I got this call and I stupidly listened to him rather than just hang up. First he tells me that I still owed something like $1.54 but I told him I did not owe a cent as I paid my statement in full and for the exact amount of the bill. He also said my subscription was on vacation hold which it was not and I told him that. Then he says he will wipe out the small amount due but says that the paper owes me some papers being that I had paid for them and had not received them. I argued with him that the paper owed me nothing and I owed them nothing that his information was incorrect. He kept insisting so I kept asking him are you sure this is at no charge as I don't have the money to pay them a cent. He said absolutely. So that weekend I got the Sat., Sun. and Mon. papers then I get a bill in the mail for service from 11/9 thru early Jan. I contacted the Post's customer service and they made sure the paper was cancelled and that I did not owe anything. Problem solved or so I thought so. This week I started getting his calls again numerous times a day. I do have a Call Block feature on my phone so I added his number to it so I don't get his calls.
Cancelled post d and they call every day. Couldn't answer even if I wanted to. I'm at work whenever they call and I don't keep my phone on me. Yesh, like that makes me want to renew my subscription!
