found this number on my caller id.  called back and it says it's out of order.  less than an hour between calls

I just got a call on my cell from this number.  The woman asked for Michelle and I told her she had the wrong number.  She then asked me if I was sure there was not a Michelle here.  I told her that she called my cell, she apologized and hung up.  When I call the number back, it is dead air.  I hope I wont get hit with a million tele-marketing calls now.  Does anyone know what this is?????

Called early in the morning around 9 am on 10-16-07.  I didn't answer because I didn't know the number.  A minute later I tried to call the number back and got a recording saying the phone number is not in service.  I live in Las Vegas.  Is this happening all over the country?

I live in Massachusetts, got this call on my cellphone earlier today. Called back, not in service.
