I was left a voice mail stating to call this number. When I did, they asked me for my cell # in order to pull up my record. Stated that they had done a tax audit from 2008-2012 and that I owed money. Then they asked me for my current address. If this were truly the IRS, they have my correct address.
Robot voice called for nobody (without any name) "We have been trying to reach you, this call is officially a final notice from IRS - Internal Revenue Service blah blah blah. Believe me when I say if the IRS is really looking for you they will not need to use a robot voice to call you...and they will send a love letter first. Just the way the message was so awkwardly worded was the foul stench of fraud...and someone with a language barrier...
The DNC does not apply to debt collections of any kind. Its for telemarketers aka sales & service calls. It won't protect you from criminal extortion calls foreign and domestic or illegal, sales, criminal calls of any kind either.

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.
