I just had the same call!!! I called them back and asked how they got my number and they said by the time they get it, they don't know what show or anything that it came from. I haven't registered for any shows -- my fiance did but that was under his name, and we didn't even go. I did register online with David's Bridal to let me know when they have big sales and be entered to win something but I don't think it was this. Either way, I told her "Sorry, I'll have to pass" and she let it go pretty easily. Kind of ticks me off that she knows my name and cell phone number but doesn't know how and then throws in at the last minute about viewing or giving a presentation.. I don't want to spend $10 in gas to drive to St. Louis and watch that when it's probably a scam/rip off like I've seen online, other than just what you said.. Scams suck. Someone should report them to the FCC..except that you probably can't since it was some other company that gave them the number. Grr.
David's Bridal is selling information to Third Parties. It's very common and usually noted in fine print somewhere. Sad to say, I've gotten a call from Royal Prestige 3 times and the only place I entered any information recently was Davids Bridal to look at Dresses online with my Bridal Party. I was to excited to bother and read any fine print and thought it wouln't be a problem because Davids Bridal is what I thought would be a reputable company. Unfortunately, I think what Davids Bridal is doing isn't looked at as illegal...just immoral and very annoying. I won't be buying my Dress with Davids Bridal as a result. I'm going somewhere else. Ugh! I don't like when companies can do this and no suffer any consequences.
I visited David's Bridal to look at wedding dresses. I made the mistake of giving them my information and for several months afterward, I was bombarded with phone calls and all kinds of junk mail for wedding-related stuff from lots of different companies that I had never heard of. If you go to their store, don't give them any information or you'll regret it.
I recently, after 7 years, have ended my employment with Royal Prestige of Missouri. You are absolutely correct about David's Bridal selling your information. David's Bridal and bridal shows are the Only 2 places that they get their information from. Then they make the employees lie to these engaged couples and says it's one of the websites you've been on and that "we have no affiliation with David's Bridal", which is an out right lie.
