This number called my mothers house phone this morning, first red flag, no one in the house uses the house phone anymore, i don't even know the number. A Martin claiming to be an investigator claiming to be from the La county Legal Service left a vm saying if I didn't contact him with in 48 hours to stand down, he and a sheriff would show up to my house or job on Tuesday with a summons, I called back because I have no idea who could be sueing me, and an aggressive gay man answered the phone. As I tried to get more information about the case he refused got nasty and hung up in my face, this happened three times in a row, finally I looked the case number up online, and it was someone else's case from 1991, I was only 2 in 1991. I called the la sherriffs department to see if the could find any information and the clerk said Martin does not work for the company, and the case number 771683 was on a very old case, that had absolutely nothing to do with me. I googled the call back number and stumbled on a number of complaints, from victims with stories similar to mine, so I filed a police report with the information given to me, and I suggest y'all do the same!
Received a call from a blocked number stating Debbie Carter would be serving a court summons with a county sherrif. If I wanted this stopped, I had to call 323-275-4433. And they would have to fax a stand down order. Followed by; ' Good Luck'. This person also called my husband with the same number and information. It is a scam. When I called the number, they were rude, insistent I pay something I don't owe. Report these people to feds and your attention general. Stating legal action has commenced when it hasn't is a clear violation of the fair debt collection practice act, and California state law. Don't give in to these people. They need to be fines and go to jail!
Message says My name is Evelyn Murdock calling on behalf of Douglas County Dept of investigations has several documents with a case number that needs be delivered by her tomorrow between noon and 4pm. If that schedule doesn't work I can call and reschedule a time for papers to be delivered and signed for with my state ID in hand.
