Got the same call as everyone else from this number. As soon as he said Dept. Of Treasurey in that strong accent I told him I knew this was a scam and hung up on him. I hope everyone else will do the same.
A lady called the first time from phone # 323-283-8595 and wanted speak to a person. told them I do not know that person. A second call from #323-283-8598 said it was Department of Public affairs and needed to talk to this person. I told them I don't know that person. He said that person will go to jail because of me. That it was a legal emergency. He got all upset an I hung up on him. I will report this case to the Federal Trade commission for further investigation.
BEWARE, BEWARE, BEWARE - SCAMMER who calls people in an attempt to swindle them out of money! The call I received was from a male with a very heavy Indian accent claiming to be an agent from the department of legal affairs. His voice sounded quite far way, like he was located in a foreign country - in the far background were sounds of voices as if it was a call center. This man was argumentative and wouldn't take no for an answer. He said my family member was wanted for a serious crime (refusing to tell me what that so-called crime was) and must return his call - giving this number, 323-283-8598, as the number to call back. He asked for a cell phone number (which I refused) to call my family member. The caller was definitely reading from some sort of script because whenever I asked a question he argued, then returned to the script, repeating some that he had already said. He called later in the day and left a message with the same scripted call. THIS IS A CRIMINAL - do not give out any personal information to this major league SCAMMER!!!!!
Got a message on my home phone from someone named "David Johnson" saying he was from the Department of Legal Affairs for the US Treasury and left this number to call 323-283-8598. Called it back and just got a busy signal.
