I responded to NJ Craigslist Personal Asst Ad, requesting where the home office was located and my response wasn't clearly answered. I find this highly suspicious and thank everyone else for posting. I had no telephone calls. just email correspondence.
I think I know the scam. He sends u a check and gets u to send out money to either him or his partners in crime. When the original check he sends u is returned, you owe the bank the money you now gave to these people. Which you may never be able to track down. He said the business name is Goodwill Ventures. I couldn't find anything saying whether this business is real or not. I hope to get the check and hold it an account for as long as I need to feel comfortable. If it clears and stays cleared for a week I may pull it out.
I got the same job, ha ha. The same thing happened to me a while back, however I was lucky and only lost $1 instead of $3000. Please for everyones sake file a complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center. I just reported Toni with the info I had. It probeley wont get your money back but maybe it will help others. Make sure you keep copies of everything, you will need to supply them to IC3.
I was hired the same day, in Vegas. Yes the check will be a fraud, it happened to me, but luckily I only lost $1. Please report this to Internet Crime Complaint Center, make copies of all correspondance and anything you received.
Hi TJ,
I am also in Vegas and I was just talking to him over the yahoo messenger. I figured it was a scam when he said he needed me to order things from Amazon, UPS, and FedEx from my account. If you're a business, why would I need to put the stuff in my name? I lied like I did it until I could do some more research on him. And when I started to ask him questions about the business again, he said it was in the email he sent me and then said he needed to tend to someone. And long and behold I find this site. I knew it was too good to be true.
