Called me today at 3pm saying my brother was in car accident in nj. Said I didn't have a brother then they said it was my father. Said he was involved in a fender bender outside a gas station in Newark and that his cousin was a fugitive and when "my dad" tried to call the cops/ insurance, the cousin pulled a pistol on him and now my dad was being held hostage at their grandmother's house. Said that I had to wire $1000 to his sisters name to insure good faith that I wouldn't call the cops and that some of the $6000 debt would be paid since his car was a BMW. Also said I couldn't get off the phone. While stalling saying that I was trying to find cash in my apt, the call dropped out and I called my dad. Once I knew he was ok, my boyfriend answered their call and gave them the business. They then sent threatening texts with pictures of guns saying that they would cut my "troat" and the last one said, "it's over, I'm here"
scam. told me a member in my family was in an accident and was being held at gunpoint and wanted me to wire them money for the return of my family member. lead to him texting me pictures of guns. thankfully i was able to get in touch with my brother while i was on the phone and was safe at home. total scam job,
Ok, so this happened to me too. please don't fall for it. They told me they had my brother and then to call someone who could pay. (my dad) They had me talk to my dad, but told him that I was the one being held hostage since they had my voice to prove it.

This number 347-244-4181 just called my cell five times w in 2 minutes. I almost answered but looked it up first. It's a SCAM!!! Don't fall for it. There are tons of articles about how this is the newest scam on the block. They lie and say they have a relative held hostage. Not true. They just want money. Don't answer and don't give them any personal info.
