Called me today at 3pm saying my brother was in car accident in nj. Said I didn't have a brother then they said it was my father. Said he was involved in a fender bender outside a gas station in Newark and that his cousin was a fugitive and when "my dad" tried to call the cops/ insurance, the cousin pulled a pistol on him and now my dad was being held hostage at their grandmother's house. Said that I had to wire $1000 to his sisters name to insure good faith that I wouldn't call the cops and that some of the $6000 debt would be paid since his car was a BMW. Also said I couldn't get off the phone. While stalling saying that I was trying to find cash in my apt, the call dropped out and I called my dad. Once I knew he was ok, my boyfriend answered their call and gave them the business. They then sent threatening texts with pictures of guns saying that they would cut my "troat" and the last one said, "it's over, I'm here"
This happened to me today. Same story about my brother and an accident and his cousin pulled a gun and is holding my brother hostage. I told him a fake name for my brother, he couldn't tell me what car my brother had. I told him to shoot my brother and I hung up. He texted me to say my brother was dead. My brother was home by then
Smart thing happened here. They told me my brother was in am accident and he needed help. I told him that i don't have a brother so he hung up in me. I texted him that I was reporting his number to the police and he threatened to kill me says he's watching me right now. Blah blah blah. Scam!

He called me today, similar -cousin pulled a gun and took hubbys cell phone after hubby hit back of cousins car - I said put him on the phone, he kept telling me "are you gonna help him?" - and I said put him no the phone... then emailed hubby at work who answered. Hung up on the B$%@@tard.
A call came in on my husband's cell phone last night, and a foreign voice (sounding upset) told me my brother was hurt or something. I told him I didn't have a brother, called him a jerk and slammed down the phone. This morning he called again. I answered and handed the phone to my husband; when he said, "Hello", the person hung up on him. I posted the number on the Police Department's web page, as well as all over Facebook...to warn others. I won't answer it anymore, since I have written the number down. It really annoys me, that they prey on people like that!
BTW, I can't list this as a "Prank Call", since it's more serious than that. There should be another call type that would cover calls like this.
