Wow you guys are lucky that they're only calling you 2-4 times a week. I've had the same freaking people use about twelve different numbers and they have called me thirty times today since about 10:00am. I'm getting really pissed off.
It is a credit card scam. I saw a post on here about a free program for my cell called Mr. Number. Easy to use and you can block unwanted numbers. They are using fake caller id numbers so you cant call them back or report them, but the seem to use several ones and I now have the program block each one and it picks up and hangs up on them. Cool
I've received numerous calls from this numbers and others all offering to reduce the interest on my outstanding credit cards. I am on the "Do Not Call List" and I have tried, unsuccessfully, to have them remove me from their list, they hang up, I ask to speak to a Supervisor - they hang up. I listen to their speil about lowering my credit card interest and they don't believe me when I tell them I do not have a creadit card nor have I had one in 8 years. I have been accused of being rude when I tell them not to call me, they act like they are doing me a favor. I would love to find out who is behind this so I can have charges filled against them, since this would be a federally investigated case, since I am in Georgia but the number they are calling is my NC cell phone, therefore it crosses state jurisdictions. If they are in Florida that is a third state.
This is the second time since Friday I've received a call from this particular number, but my cell phone # seems to be on some list circulated by scam artists because I have days when it rings 3-4 (or double that) times from numbers in some other part of the country. I don't answer them if I don't recognize the number. And not too surprisingly, they almost never leave a message. I did make up fake names for them (like Annoying Caller) & assign them silent ring tones for a while, but the numbers change so much that I just keep my phone on vibrate most of the time now.
