It actually had not occurred to me that this might not really be American Express calling but they say that they are. A company that I worked for ten years ago went broke and there was appraently an American Express account that did not get paid. It was not my personal debt. Amex reported it as my personal debt for years but, thankfully, enough time has passed that it dropped off my credit report years ago. Now they have started calling me from this number trying to collect this money. I have advised them that this is not and never was my debt and that the staute of limitations for collecting this debt ran out years ago. It does not matter. I feel certain that they will hound me over this for the rest of my life. And, due to today's automated nature of debt collector phone calling, I have to put up with two or three hang up calls for every live person I get from this number. Yes, I know that I should just look at the caller ID before I answer my phone but I am just not accustomed to hiding from anybody.
Probably AMX trying to collect for sure. This is their internal last resort collecting agency. Now AMX sues in record time. In less than a year they sued me for debt collection without offer to settle in the meantime and despite this was a business that went out of business more than 2 years ago.
