I got the same call. I guess I missed it because it came in September and I caught it while going through old voicemails. I knew it was total BS but I called back anyway just to see what they'd say. I got a voicemail asking me my situation so I could be moved to the top of the priority list. I hadn't even finished listening to his message before he called back. I told him I had received a message about a "Federal Investigation" and he told me he was sorry and that it was a mistake. I hope people don't actually fall for this stuff.
Called and left message re a warrant for arrest for tax evasion. Hindi accent- kept wanting me to hold- did have my name. Said he was with IRS- said I didn't believe him and if he was with the IRS he should know my SSN- what was it? He hung up.
David Scott...Gave me a badge number of MN267542 and a Case ID IR266654. Said I owed $3,7000 for tax evasion and needed to pay today. When I told them I was suspicious they said they would report me to the FBI. Caller had a thick Asian Indian accent. Number called was 571-526-0000.
The IRS will not call you. They send letters via US Mail. The IRS won't ask you to pay in i-Tunes cards. The IRS will not wish you "good luck as the situation unfolds". Trust yourself and your instincts - do not let a bully intimidate you by threats that are nothing but hot air (and bad breath). This is a SCAM.
Do not answer calls you don't know and never call them back.

I just received a recording of a man with a heavy middle eastern sounding accent on my vm stating that i am under federal investigation, to return his call back at 571-526-0000 to find out the details of my case, and to "have a blessed day." very hard to understand his broken english. Attempted to return the call out of curiosity...No answer after ringing several times. I decided to look this up and found this website.
