We do know people and have done business in the 610 area, so we picked up. The individual asked if we still are interested in Dogster Magazine (which we do subscribe to). They were offering a "Great Deal" to extend our subscription for 18 months beyond its current end date. "No Deal" for us. Usually when it gets close to our expiration, the company DIRECTLY gives us a great rate.
To L Martin:I have an Umpire's Whistle by my phone, & whenever I get a call from a # I suspect is a telescammer, I wait for someone to pick up the call, & If they say anything that is a solicitation, I BLOW it in my mouthpiece!! Works sometimes on the first call from the #!!! NO MORE CALLS RECORDED on my Caller ID!!
After getting repeated calls with no message from this number, I finally decided to answer. As other people posted, it is not a robocall and a human does answer. I used to get the magazine they called about some years ago and they wanted to know if I would like to subscribe again at a substantial savings. Since I used to get the magazine I suppose it falls under the category of "a company I have done business with", so they are permitted to call under the FCC regs for individuals who are exempt from the Do Not Call List. I told them I wasn't interested and to take me off their list, so if they call again I'll take further action.
The owner of this phone number is a stranger using deceptive tactics against citizens. I called the number back anonymously, and it is a disconnected number. So, the caller is pushing caller ID data "(610) 347-5449" to receivers, to mask their [real] number. The caller is collecting active phone numbers (mines an iPhone) with responsive residents, so they can sell them on the open market to telemarketers, criminals, etc.
