Continually calling, no one there and no message left when I don't answer. I do not owe anything. Double checked credit report to be sure.
Finally spoke to someone and told them I do not owe anything and they said, 'It doesn't matter, this is the number we have for this person, so we will continue to call until resolved' WTF??? No where close to even the same name as me, so not even an accident. Total BS, and no one can do anything about it, it seems. I have had the number for over 10 years, so not a new number thing either.
Have advised that I will proceed with harassment suit if they continue to call. Received 2 more calls in last 3 days.
Robo calling almost daily for a small debt my son had over a decade ago. After 6 years they can do nothing legally unless you speak with them and acknowledge the debt, besides they won't spend vast resources to chase you in court for an account they paid pennies on the dollar for.
The robo call harassment is a way to extort payment, claiming they have an important message or threatening that this is the final warning or to call their legal dept etc., all sly ploys, they are full of it, ignore them.
GET A CALL BLOCKER because Bell's call block service only allows for 13 numbers and sometimes won't or can't block some numbers, where i question whether they are in cahoots with some of these these guys, especially if it a Bell debt.
Anyways, also do not put number you don't want them t call on any future credit applications with anyone or they find them and will call those numbers too.
Hope this helps some of the victims of constant harassment by the collection opportunists seeking to fill their treasure chests during these hard times off of the distraught and disadvantaged or they would have paid these small amounts long ago to the original debtor than some unethical harassing agency today.
Scam agency often connected to legitimate business numbers who advertise online. When you purchase something from a business they often set up an account and ask you for your phone number. That number then gets entered onto a advertising or spam list. Usually you start receiving spam a couple days after you have given them your phone number.
Think about who you gave your number too in the past few days. Gym memberships, government agencies etc.
You may also have to change your phone number or email address upon your social media accounts. Social media like facebook dating sites etc is another way in which your phone number or email address ends up on a spam list.
