Got a call from Card Services department. Played along to see what they wanted, it was to lower my interest rate to 6% on Visa. The "agent" was very friendly in explaining that it would only cost $395 to do so. When I asked shy the bank would charge me for a change to a card that they had issued, he got very hostile. Told him he was very rude and hung up. Called CIBC immediately and they said they would never offer such a deal over the phone. They always write if they are making a change to your card. It is a SCAM and the bank changed my card number immediately to prevent these people from charging me for anything as the "card services" knew too much about me. Banks are aware of this and are chasing it but it is very difficult to catch them as they run just inside the law. DO NOT fall for this.
