The usual shady near criminals who go door to door to sell you new furnaces, new ducts, or water heaters for hundreds of dollars more than any honest firm who doesn't call you.
Why did the Harris government deregulate energy years ago. Ontarians continue to be cheated by the "competitive market" created.
I got a call from this number. They claimed they weren't selling anything, but that an inspector would be on my street tomorrow checking to see if homeowners wanted a free inspection to see if they qualify for an Ontario grant towards upgrading furnace, air conditioner or hot water heater. When I asked why they needed access to my house to check such details, he seemed confused. I asked where his company was located, and he was stumped by that question too. I told him to stop bothering people and to never call again. (I'm on the Do Not Call list.)
Thank you so much for your post -- so informative and much appreciated. Just received a call from this number and wanted to ensure it was not from someone we know. We are on the "Do Not Call List", but, it doesn't seem to make any difference.
Just received a call from the same number as you. I did not answer but checked out the number online and found your post. These people usually go door to door. I know people who let them in to inspect their furnace, hot water etc and they would tag it as unsafe. They then offer their services to repair and make the system safe. This is how they make money. If you do not use their services to make the system safe you have to pay someone else who is licensed to do so. Do not let them in.
