Keep receiving threating calls at work that I owe payday loan. SCAM!!! Be aware...they do have last four of SSN and my bank account info. Please check if you get a call from them again.
Received back to back calls from this #. Indian accent goes by the name of Kevin Thompson. Calling from American Law Association. Regarding lawsuit same script. Told him this was a scam all over internet and news and that police and proper authorities were notified. He started to raise his voice then cuss me out and hung up. I called him back and asked him if he liked being harrassed told me he was going to arrest me- the more I called the more he cussed. SCAM SCAM SCAM!!!!!
I have been getting phone calls from these same people. It started last Thurs (5-12-11) and they called me back to back like 5 different times, The guys name was Jason and he said he was suing me cause i owe a payday loan that i never took out. He said he knew all my info from my S.S number and my bank account number. i told them i was calling the police and they stop. But it started again today (5-17-11) this time it was a different man and his name was Alevin. And he said that they were suing me and putting me in jail for a year cause i owe a loan for 92,000! I dont even make that money! So my mouth just dropped. They said they were from the American Law Association. So i did call the FTC and did a report. So if anyone gets these phone calls PLEASE DONT RESPOND OR SEND NO MONEY!! THEY ARE A SCAM!!!!
Listen call the FTC and they will do a complain. This is all a scam and i found out after i finally got all scared and look all over the intertnet for them. Please fall for what they say its not true.
You should also report it to your local police and fbi since they threatened you with jail time. I would also monitor your credit and bank accounts and put alerts on them. I have been calling this # often blocking my # , harrassing them. Much of the time now they pick up the phone and hang up right away without saying a word(now that is a very professional law association-lol!)
i got a call from this 'kevin' this morning - claiming he was from the american law association. at first he wouldnt admit it was a scam - so i warned him i was reporting him to the federal authorities - to which he hung up on me. when i called back - he started cursing at me - to which i warned him to be careful i could crash their phone servers in a second - he laughed it off and hung up again.
so i posted the phone number on a picture in craigslist personals (under casual encounters - promising sexual favors - for free)
ten minutes later he was receiving about a 100 calls a minute - effectively rendering his business scam ineffective.
after about an hour of this i called him back - he begged me to make it stop if he would stop calling me - i said "kevin thats not enough - u need to admit to me that it is a scam"
and he did! he admitted it was a scam - i asked him why is he doing this - he claimed it "is a good job"
i recorded the entire conversation and have reported it to the federal authorities and the american bar association.
you can do the same - the only way to fight these people is to shut down their means of communications - i.e. - their phones
i had warned him - and he got bitten - well deserved!!!
