This scammer is going by the name of Emily and is targeting doulas in the SF Bay Area. I as well as many others have received the following text:
"Hi there, Emily here. What do you charge for your doula services? My EDD is Aug 19th, are you available? Do you accept credit cards? Kindly reply when you have some time - [email protected]. Thanks"
I responded back with more info and received the following text:
"I have checked it. Thanks. I am recuperating from an ear surgery and I will not be available for an initial consultation until June 25th but I would like to pay upfront before you are fully booked. Okay?"
From what I've seen in other forums, the scam is to overpay with a credit card either directly or via PayPal and to request a refund before the transaction goes through.
