Just called Wells Fargo through the number on their website instead of 650-550-9255 from the text. They confirmed it's a scam. They said they don't text their customers.
I got this too. I was told you can email [email protected] and report the details. They should at least be able to shut down the 650-550-9255 number for fraud if people report this.
I got a text message supposedly from Wells Fargo (which is my bank) from an Oregon phone number, 503-929-3160 saying my ATM card had been deactivated and to call a local number, 650 -550-9255. I did call that just to see what it was -- the recording said Wells Fargo Card Activation Services. But I hung up and called Wells Fargo proper -- they said it was a phishing scam and there's nothing wrong with the ATM card. Never had this before -- and I'd like to know how they got my cell phone number which I don't give out!!
