Same thing happened to me, creepy guy (definitely Indian or Arabic based on the accent) called 4 times in the last hour. Couldn't understand him completely, but he was rude to me when I asked him how he got my number and why he wouldn't stop calling (I finally picked up on the 4th call, but definitely won't be doing so again). He told me that I signed up for more information on some Education Direct (or something like that, can't remember exactly) form, and when I denied it, he told me "how else would I get your number and address and zipcode if you didn't sign up?". I talked with an AT&T customer service rep about blocking the number, but unfortunately it's not available as a free option (and I'm not about to pay a monthly subscription of $4.99 just based on one day's events). The rep did give me some information that I thought might be helpful to share: ""You can file a police report if you are troubled by these harassing calls, as well. If law enforcement deem this to be a serious issue, they can subpoena billing information for these calls and find out who is responsible and act accordingly. It very well could be a number that is being "spoofed" - to appear as another number than what is actually calling you. However, even spoofed calls can be traced back to the original source if a subpoena is involved."" That option seems slightly drastic for me at this point, but depending on how the situation unfolds or how high it escalates, I may consider it. Hope this helps, good luck everyone!
This number has called my cell phone 5 times already today. I am about to call the BBB and give them a number and see what they can do. This [***] drives me insane.
