I got a call from this gentleman who called himself Officer Eric Kloster. He told me to call this number immediately. It was the "hotline to his division." He spoke with a thick accent and told me that if I did not return the call--or have my lawyer return the call--he could only wish me good luck with the consequences.
"my name is officer Eric Forster and hotline to my division is 718-475-9087. I repeat my number is 718 475 9087. Now don't try to disregard this message and do return the call. If you don't return the call and if I don't hear from your attorney either then the only thing I can do with wish you good luck as situation badly unfolds on you. So give me a call back as soon as you get this message. Thank you
They called me also about 5X in the last 48hr. I called back with the actual IRS fraud hotline on the phone. Whenever you get these dumb [***] calling, just call 800-908-4490 first or if you have them patch the IRS fraud line into the call and they can supposedly trace it (Sounds a little James Bond to me, but who knows). It is better to call the IRS hotline first, so you can prep the REAL IRS agent (They may connect you to a special unit). Then tell them what is happening and say you'd like to connect them. Then do a 3way call back to the quicky mart guy....wait....I mean Indian "IRS guy" agent.
It was HILARIOUS!! IRS let them get out enough to incriminate impersonating a federal officer. Then they spoke up and notified the caller they were tracing the call and a minimum $200,000 USD fine and two years in prison per instance, the Indian guy started out tuff until the agent started asking for his agent number and Quicky Mart could barely even speak falling all over his dress. He rambled something in quicky mart talk and said he was getting his supervisor and thought he hung up, but we could hear them talking in high pitched accents like a bunch of school girls. Lets just say, I have a whole new respect for the IRS today sending them to the quicky mart to change their dipers. Cracks me up!!
I gave the REAL agent all my info. I wouldn't hold your breath. I'd bet the number they give out stops working pretty quick.
