They just called saying they are working with Con Edison on then Power Your Way Program to provide 7-15% discounts per month on the electric bill...they want the account numbers over the phone to verify and ask for full names. Its a total scam.
I just got a call from this same scam. He had a thick Indian accent and wanted my account number, etc. Of course, I refused and told him that I was not interested but it upset me to think that in these hard financial times, some people might fall for this garbage.
What can one do to stop these jerks from preying on innocent people. My Con Ed bills are ridiculously high - and I am sure other peoples' are, too, so it is tempting to try to save money. However, I knew this guy was a scammer. Beware.
They said they were 'city power and gas' and were not an ESCO but were going to give me some great deal on bills for being a loyal ConEd customer who pays on time. They wanted my Con Ed account number.
Yeah, I got these calls earlier this year and just stopped answering them.. and they called again.. they keep changing the caller id.. and it showed up like +7 (185) 149-98-4... and when you call them back its definitely not a legitimate thing
