I received a call from this number, the man had a thick middle eastern accent, he told me that I had $8,000 in credit card debt, and he said that he could help me out of it, I told him I didn't have any debt and he just hung up.
Ditto - received 2 calls from the same number yesterday - (3/8/2010). They seem to be very busy. First call was in the morning from Alex asking for my husband. When I asked for a last name, he hung up. Second call was in the early evening, homework hour. This time asked for my husband and when I said that he was not here, they asked if I was his wife. Then onto the credit discussion and the yelling because I said I was not interested. Thankfully, in my case there was no swearing. Thank you for the information on how to file a complaint. This is unnecessary harrassment. I'm just glad none of my kids was the unlucky phone answerer!
In the old days, annoying calls were answered with an old fashion whistle in the ear trick. Need to get a new whistle and go back to doing this for people who are so obnoxious. Does not always keep them from calling, but surely gives them an earful. Got a call just a few minutes ago and a similiar call on my cell phone with a different area code.
I got a call from a guy with an Indian accent. He jumped into his script about saving me thousands on my credit card debt and when I asked him if we had a current account with him he got irritated and rude. I told him that we were on the do not call list and unless we had a current account with him, he should not be calling me. He yelled at me and said "What do you think I am calling you for?" I told him that I suspected he was either soliciting me for something or a debt collector and since we are current on all accounts he must be soliciting. He yelled something else and hung up on me. I am thinking this is a total scam.
I just got a call from this number. When I said hello, there was no answer and I was about to hang up when this moron came on and introduced the company. I said "never heard of you" ana said to send me a letter as i don't talk to companies I have no relationship with. The [***] then CALLS ME BACK and says "Are you stupid or an [***]?" Seriously! So I reply, "no, I am a stupid [***], but I still won't talk to you!" The caller id number that comes up is fake. It is disconnected when you try it! Probably some terrorist using Skype to try to steal money and identities of good people in the US.
Received a call from this number on March 11, 2010. Caller ID said, "Bronx, NY". Man with an accent asked for my husband by his first name. I told him he wasn't home and he then hung up on me. I phoned back immediately and it just rang and rang and no voicemail. I phoned back again this morning and it says this number is no longer in service. Very sketchy indeed.
