Beware, this person is a predatory telemarketer. He was hocking special salt and pressed that I had sent him a letter asking for more information. Had me and my bosses names and looking for a sale, and then said he was going to send us stuff and we don't have to pay for it for 2 months. After I said I don't want it, I will not accept it or dump it on the curb and not pay for it and that I don't authorize him sending anything, he stepped back and kept quoting the Farmer's Almanac. Not a good salesman, beware.
This is just another pest to add to my long list of them. Seems to always call during important meetings. They never leave a message - so unprofessional - forcing someone to call them back? Just a shame that laws cannot protect us from harrassment like this.
Telemarketer, who got our church name "off an inquiry card" that one of our parishioners "must have" filled out. Glad I typed the number into Google and was wary of his shtick.
Name is Harry Jeffries, very heavy New York accent. He first asked for our late pastor by name. Usually people who ask for him by name are telemarketers, and therefore don't know he passed away last year. (It's a rather morbid screening test, I've found. =P ) He insisted on talking to the person in charge of ordering maintenance supplies (me) and then set off on a very long spiel to sell me a magic ice melt. He reduced the rate to $2.30/pound, just for me! Just for me, he'd cut a regular shipment in half and send us a mere 100 pounds to try out--for free!
When I told him any purchases like that would have to be made with permission from the maintenance coordinator, he assured me that I wouldn't have to pay... up front. Key words, "up front." We'd get it all for free and presumably can return it if we're not satisfied. Then they'll quietly send two bills in December and January. Yeah, not falling for that one!
Finally he left his name and number for our maintenance coordinator to call him with. Ain't gonna happen, Harry.
Hi everyone, Harry Jeffries here in response to all the previous posts. First of all, not all church's in this country are big and fancy like yours. Most times it's someone's brother or cousin loading up the the whole back of a sedan with low quality sand /salt and driving back in a storm cutting open messy bags in the parking lot and still risking someone slipping. We drop the highest quality ice melt right to your door, in a neat resealable tub. Sometimes calls don't go well but for the most part our customers love us, the product, and they reorder again and again. We all have families and work very hard just like you selling a good product to good people. We have no problem never calling you again if you have other means to keep your walkways safe. So with that said, you continue selling the word of the Lord and we'll continue to make sure they get there safety. Fair enough?
