I just received a message about the same thing. He was of Indian decent, I believe. I did try and call back the number and it rang and rang until it turned into a busy signal. I proceeded to do this Several Times and got the same or a straight busy. They never mentioned a "name" who they were looking for, no identifiers. We have had many calls in the past due to phone numbers being someone else's at one time or another. I only hope, that the IRS would not Employ a 3rd party telemarketer to do these type of calls if it Was Real, And, I have Always paid my taxes, sometimes a little bit more, just in case, and with that said, I Know, I am Not on the IRS's list. These people who are harassing and intimidating people, especially the elderly, that May send them money. This Needs to Stop. It could be isis, who only knows with all the turmoil that they are creating. Just a thought.

I just thought about the "hackers" that got hold of social security numbers and were using Turbo Tax trying to apply for the peoples taxes. This is going to be a Real Big Mess if someone cannot come up with a better security system for everyone who uses internet and credit/debit cards.

Report the Calls to the real IRS here:
•report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 800-366-4484.
•You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. Add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments in your complaint.

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

Same happened to me just now!  It's an obvious scam - "Officer Brian Oconeal" could not even pronounce his own name properly.  Stay away!!!
