I just got a call from this number, on a Sat. morning! It was a live woman talking, saying there had been a complaint attached to my SSN. She said she was from LCS Mediation. That firm exists, but I'm sure she's not a part of it. It's just the new take on the IRS scam callers.
I hate debt collectors, but they were at least willing to work with me to finalize the debt. Settled for half the balance. i will be running up another cc soon, only to get the same settlement offer down the road. Don't settle for full price. they will come down off the balance.
Never pay something unless its verified. Always ask them to send you verification of the debt by mail, if they refuse they are violating terms in the FCRA ACT. Also they cannot give any information out even implying you have a debt with them to anybody but you. Do not answer yes or no to verifying your address, phone #, ssn etc. Again have them send everything in the mail. I made the mistake of paying on one similar to this years ago and my bank pointed out it was fraud!!!
