Yes, you can stop the calls! I received one, sometimes up to three calls a day from Canadian Pharmacy using this and a dozen other numbers. for over 3 years until I finally fought back! Here's the secret: Their computer makes tens of thousands of calls a day, routed through different numbers all over the country, only connecting you to a salesperson when you say "hello". At the first sign of negativity, they simply hang up. It costs them nothing! You will never get off the automated call list until you order something.
So DO IT! Be sure to ask lots of questions, change your mind several times, haggle on price. Then give them your address, email and credit card number (all fake!). The first time I kept the woman on the phone for 45 minutes. After she ran the fake card number (always use the correct first 2 digits), she desperately tried to call me 10 times a day for 3 days. Finally I answered and told her the credit card was canceled and gave her another. 3 more days of calling with no answer and it all stopped - for 3 months!!
I repeated the process, this time saying I had no credit card and was in the middle of switching bank accounts. After an hour on the phone fielding my stupid repeat questions and placing a $200 order, he sent instructions (to a fake email) on how to pre-pay using Western Union. He called 10 times a day for a week to figure out why they hadn't gotten the money before it all stopped again. 3 months later, here they come again. No biggie. I'm starting to enjoy this!
They make their money by selling to one of every 10,000 calls. It takes only a tiny percentage of fake orders to waste enough time for their entire marketing strategy to go bust. The salespeople get frustrated, make no commissions and quit. The company spends $1000 training another replacement. Their phone banks are stalled taking orders that only cost them money. Try it, its fun!
Put them out of business - REPOST THIS FOR EVERY NUMBER THEY USE
Just called here in Mississauga, Ontario.
Caller asked for the home owner. Identified his company as Canadian Mortgage. Hung up when told we didn't have a mortgage. Sounded oddly defeated, a good feeling.
Received a call from 718-822-9084.. telling me he is from windows and had received some email from my computer that it will crashed due to downloaded software... then i ask which computer since I have 3 at home.. he cannot tell me which one so i already had feeling its a frank call and ask their number so that i can call back.. he keep insisting that I need to follow his instructions and if I dont follow his instruction my computer will crash in couple of days...... he is asking me to find windows key and pressed it.. i told them i cannot find my windows key.. and insist for their number so that I can back.... he just hang up... well its a scam!!! i hope they will get caught and be put in jail... The caller is male with Indian accent!!!
Got a call from this number too. I have a Verizon cell phone. With verizon you can block certain numbers from calling your phone. You just sign into your acct online and click on "Block Calls and Messages." You can enter up to 5 numbers at a time, and it blocks them for up to 90 days at a time.
Just received a call from that number and they told me they were from Microsoft. I was told that my windows os have problems. They call me on my house phone and when I asked them where they got my number, they told me when I bought my windows it was registered to this number at the store...but I used my cell number! I just wanted to see how far they will go. They guided me to check my event viewers and told me thse errors happened because I was hacked...I was then forwarded to second level support and she tried to get me to go to ammyy.com, which will give them access to my PC. This is where I stopped them and told them that I know they were full of [***] and that I wanted to know how far they would go...asked her to hang up and never call again!
