Called my cell while I was at the park with my dog. # was not in my contacts so I didn't answer. A message was left in spanish for United Health Care (was the only part of message I could understand). Did not hear my name on the message either but it sounded as if they wanted me to call back at a different #. The timing is wierd too, as I just changed to a UHC plan.
My home phone was called. A recording stated that United Health Care had important information about my health care benefits. I was given a 1-800 number to call back. The message was left in English and Spanish. Since I just signed up for a new plan with UHC, I called back. I was asked for my name and SS# which I probably should not have provided, but as you wrote, the timing was an interesting coincidence. I was given the option of a call back rather than wait on hold. Then Vanguard called me from 610-503-5644 stating that an investment professional wanted to speak with me and asked for my SS# again. I hung up and have not heard back from either number, but I am afraid that any damage is already done. :(
You should contact 1 of the 3 credit bureaus and place a fraud alert on you account immediately. 1 will notify the other 2. Also get a copy of your credit report. I called UHC; as I got another call today; and they only ask for you name, address and DOB. Not your SS#. Best of luck .....
