It's Best Buy. They called me because my credit card number changed, and I have the "Black Tie" insurance on my cell phone that used the old card number. They did leave me a message once, but the last time, they left no message.
MY DEBIT CARD EXPIRED AND THEY NEEDED A NEW NUMBER, THE AGENT WAS EXTREMELY NICE AND I WAS PLEASED TO FIND THAT THEY CARED ENOUGH ABOUT ME AND MY BUSINESS TO HAVE THIS SYSTEM SET UP! THERE DOESN'T SEEM TO BE A CATEGORY FOR THIS CALL. IT WAS BEST BUYS CUSTOMER SERVICE
BestBuy will call anytime someone used your telephone number and purchased some time of insurance through them whether it's a TV, VCR, computer, cellphone or etc. If you or someone in your household has bought insurance and the credit card didn't go through or card expired, etc this is why you are being called. I know they called me. For some odd reason it showed that they didn't receive the payment but it turned out they did. Turned out their system and my card issuer transfer had some holiday issues on the backend.
Received a call saying they needed last 4 digits of credit card # to renew warranty. Had not purchased a warranty from them. Called Best Buy; they "never heard of Varolii"! They did tell me "I had purchased 2 phones in Utah on 1/20/10 (I live in NJ; never been to Utah)? Best Buy e-mailed me a copy of the purchaser's receipt. Would they have done that if they weren't involved at all???? Not sure how they got my information!
I didn't trust this call, so I called Best Buy direct. The call was legit. I purchased my HTC phone in Dec with the Black Tie Protection Plan. My credit cards were stolen on Bourbon Street In New Orleans in January so they were calling to get my new credit card #.
If you don't trust VarolII, call Best Buy direct, like I did at 888-237-8289.
