A message came on the screen of my roommates Apple lap top computer as he opened it that there was a Trojan virus in the computer and to call this number right away to get rid of the virus. The computer was locked and a prerecorded message kept playing over and over. I called the number and he said he was with Apple support and he would get the virus off of the computer. I could hear people talking in the background. He was asking me to go though different steps on the computer to get the virus off. He wanted me to turn off Safari and my wifi and open Goggle and down load something and open it and I couldn't understand him that well and then he said to hold on a couple of times and that he was going to get the senior tech on the phone. I started feeling really uncomfortable with the whole situation and told him my phone was going in and out and that I would call him back from a different phone and he said just 5 more minutes we're almost there. Then I really started to realize he wasn't from Apple and this was some kind of scam and I just needed to hang up the phone. I hung up the phone and he tried to call me back from 2 different numbers 1-732-837-9041 and 1-732-837-9166 and my phone said scam or fraud on my phones screen. I don't know what kind of scam they were trying to pull but the Apple laptop will be going to Bestbuy tomorrow for the geek squad to figure out how they were able to lock out the computer and sent that message. Hopefully, there's no viruses on there. I do have password security and virus protection on all my electronic devices.
Just received a call from this number saying basically the same as the rest of you. Although this man who referred to himself as jimmy kimmel imagine that ha ha and said if I didn't call him back by 2/28 that he would be out to see me. What a bunch of crapola there needs to be a way to stop these idiots. Of course he didn't say the name of his company and told me to call an 844 number to talk to someone. Both numbers came up as scam.
This is a classic scam, whereby you click on a website and they send you a phoney "your computer has been infected with a virus" message. You call the number and the phoney "technician" will jack you around trying to get info and/or money out of you.
