Robo call for energy company. Calls multiple times over multiple days. Wants to switch from current provider Duke Energy...which is NOT our current provider.
For two weeks I get at least 4-5 calls a day from these people. I try to catch the call, but when I do, they already off the line. This is a very dangerous practice and I wish I knew to whom I could report this. I am almost 80 years old, and feel compelled to answer the phone when it rings because I wait for calls from my children. Hope someone out there can give me information about how I can stop this. I do use Duke Energy, and someone on this site mentioned that it is believed to be an energy company competing with Duke.
You can call the utility company which actually provides the wires to your home (e.g., in Cincinnati, that would be Duke) and asked to be put on the do not contact list for telemarketers trying to get you to switch the company which provides for your gas and/or electric supplier.
Unfortunately that only means that you will be removed from the lists that your utility delivery provider sends monthly to the telemarketers. It should cut down on the calls, but may not totally eliminate them.
Under Ohio law, the telemarketers are exempt from the Federal "Do Not Call" list. Ohio's system of gas and electric "competition" is a curse on everyone except the telemarketers. You are fortunate if they don't cold call you at your front door.
I've called this number back twice; you get a prompt to press "1" to be added to a do not call list; however they keep calling. The next time I'll listen to the total message and find out who they are working for and report them to the Ohio Attorney General for abusing the do not call request.
Been getting calls from this number for the last 3 weeks. Calls from mornings in to early evening at least 4X a day. Never leaves messages. I don't answer if I don't recognize the number.
