A woman with a smarmy, phlegmy voice said she was a paid fundraiser with Greendrop, LLC who represented something called Purpleheart. I hung up before she said another word.
Purpleheart is a charity organization helping Veterans. They normally only solicit for serviceable clothing and household goods that they sell in Thrift Centers to raise funds. The calls come several weeks before pickups take place in your area. I asked them to not be contacted by phone and they have complied. I do receive periodic postcards announcing the next scheduled pick up in my area and do call when I have something to donate. We have been regular donors to them for decades. Of course my experience is with the local group in MD, I cannot speak to practices for other areas. When I used to receive calls I do not recall them as coming from Greendrop.
They are scammers and they avoid media do they don't get attention. Many offices on the east coast. Virginia donor services is the same as Nj donor services and Maryland donor services. They are all greendrop trucking due to "the word getting out about them" . Do not donate anything to them. They are a "for profit charity" and scammers.
