We received the "Are you receiving your TV GUIDE on time..." call from 1-781-322-1224 today. They asked quite a few questions that suggested they were bogus (e.g., "What's your address?" and "When does your subscription expire?"). They then asked if we wanted to give them our credit card information so they could bill us directly from here on. Uh...no thanks!
I called TV GUIDE who said this is a phishing scam since they NEVER engage third parties to do this type of thing.
I received the same call and was wondering if any identity theft has happened? I tried to call the local consumer protection agency, but gave-up after being on hold for over 15 minutes.
ANYONE WHO RECIEVES THESE CALLS IN THE FUTURE NEED TO CALL THE "REAL" TV GUIDE FROM BOONE IOWA AT: 1-800-866-1400(YOU NEED TO TALK TO THE SUPERVISOR AND TELL THEM YOUR STORY OF HOW YOU ARE GETTING THESE CALLS WITH THE NAME OF THE COMPANY ALONG WITH ANY ADDRESS OR PHONE NUMBER OFF YOUR CALLER ID'S AS THEY WILL INVESIGATE ALL THE CALLS AS THEY GET THEM. THEY PUT THEM ON A LIST THAT USES THERE LOGO IN ANY WAY AS THEY DO NOT ASK ANYONE OUTSIDE THERE CUSTOMER SERVICE TO CALL ANYONE TO SEE IF THEY ARE STILL GETTING THERE TV GUIDE OR WANT TO RENEW AT ANY TIME!!!! IN ORDER FOR ALL OF THE CALLS TO STOP----YOU MUST DO YOUR PART AND CALL 1-800-866-1400, FOLLOW THE PROMPTS(IF YOU DONT GET TV GUIDE--YOU MUST SAY "CAN'T FIND ACCOUNT NUMBER" AS THAT WILL TAKE YOU DIRECTLY TO A REAL TV GUIDE CUSTOMER SERVICE REP, THEN ASK TO SPEAK TO THERE SUPERVISOR AS YOU HAVE IMPORTANT INFO TO GIVE AS YOU GOT A CALL FROM A COMPANY WHO IS USING THE TV GUIDE LOGO ILLEGALLY AS THEY DO NOT SOLICATE ANY CALLS TO HAVE ANY OTHER COMPANY CALL ON THERE BEHAVE!!!!!
Got a call just now from woman who said she was Brandy at Publisher Service calling about TV Guide, whether it is arriving OK each week. I don't subscribe to TV Guide. Apparently a devious attempt to get me to subscribe. I refused to talk with her.
