They have been calling my cell phone for 4 days - day and night. I am on call so I cannot turn my cell phone off. That means that I haven't had any real sleep in 4 days now. I fell asleep in a meeting with my boss yesterday, and am constantly interrupting meetings with these stupid calls.
If they don't stop, it could soon cost me my job.... or my sanity, whichever goes first!
Based on the information in this thread I called Anthem Blue Cross in Richmond and the operator there told me that if I turned my cell phone off and on again they would stop calling me! That is totally ridiculous. How could their fax machine know whether I turned my cell phone off and on again.
I told her to turn her fax machine off and on again to see if that solved the problem!
She opened a ticket on this. I certainly hope it works. Otherwise, I fear I'm going Postal! hehe
I started receiving these harassing fax polling calls this morning at one about every 5 minutes. I live about 30 miles south of Richmond, Va. I called Anthem Blue Cross in Richmond at 804-354-7000 and managed to keep my voice below a 110db scream. Surprise! Surprise! The operator was quite familiar with the problem. She said it was a "glitch in the system" and somebody was using their number to send these faxes. My question then was since I am reading posts on the internet about this problem dating to the first of 2009 what in the hell has Anthem Blue Cross and Verizon done to resolve the problem like getting a different fax number and deleting that bad one? It was like pushing the "Play" button again on a tape machine...blah, blah...a glitch in the system, etc. Translated: Obviously nothing or very little as it still is a problem almost a year later.
The operator was nice and took my phone number and the "glitch in the system" phone number 804-678-6200. She submitted a "ticket" somewhere in the Anthem Blue Cross empire to have it blocked from my phone number. She said it would take a maybe an hour or two for it to become effective.
Time will tell.
