The guy asked for the name of the previous owner, who died unexpectedly at the end of last year. As most people have been after I break the news, he was speechless for a bit and stuttered through apologies. He then asked for who took the position, which I answered truthfully--his wife has taken full ownership and now runs the company.
It was his response that really kind took me aback: "...she doesn't do everything he did, does she? I mean, she can't..."
I took personal pleasure in just stating, "She does."
After recovering from that "amazing" fact, he asked for her, which I then said she was in a meeting (also true), but could put him in her voicemail. He said that was fine, but after I input the extension and transfer button, it just sat there---which means he hung up.
I looked up the number, and while a legitimate business (I guess), we're not a merchant, and have no need of their services. That dash of sexism didn't help any, either.
Get calls from this number all the time, most of the time nobody on the other end of the line. If you try to call them back, nobody ever picks up no matter which option you choose. I discovered that the President's extension is 301. Other usable extensions are 303, 304, 305, and 306. I actually got someone to pick up extension 305 where I actually got a pleasant person who said she would make sure none of our lines were called again (I recorded the call--one party consent state)
Blocked the # but still get the call. One time answered, but the lady said to speak with (name) but when I asked to take a message, said will try again. I said if you don't have a message, then don't call anymore. Still get calls from them "VMS"
