Someone from 864.551.2485 called to try to get me to convert Verizon Wireless to an earlier payment plan saying that a technician had erroneously entered information for 25 accounts and data was lost. I hung up but called Verizon to check and they said they never use 3rd party vendors and this was a scam.
I got a call as well from Angie <couldn't figure out last name> 864-551-2485 x 3021. I let it go to voicemail since I didn't recognize the number. I checked on the net as the phone was ringing. Same fed no-bid contract shpeel in voicemail. You are correct Tom, regarding the nature of sole-source. Typically, it is a highly specialized requirement with no competitors. Everything has to be justified through request for market surveys, responses to market surveys, proposals, etc. The other sole source is 8a set-asides that the government has to fulfill in order to demonstrate that a certain percentage of business goes to small businesses.
Angela White from GSA called wanting to "give us" a 5 year NO bid contract. Left several messages. We have been doing business with the federal government for 12 years and use several GSA Schedules - No need for her "services" as we know that there is really no "free lunch" from companies like these. You can get your own GSA schedule without a 3rd party charging you for it.
