IRS tax scam. The caller was claiming that my mother was named in a case involving the IRS. When I asked for the case number, he didn't have one and became angry and defensive. He was aggressively argumentative, with poorly constructed arguments, and a very poor grasp of English. His accent sounded Indian/[***]/Bangladeshi or from that region of the world.
Recently someone has been calling my house trying to impersonate an IRS officer. They asked me for all my personal information which I declined. I believed that this was a fake IRS tax scam so I called the number and someone who spoke Hindi answered. I speak Hindi as well so I questioned him about his motives. The person told me he was trying to scam me in order to receive money. I am very frustrated by these calls and hope to help you all avoid them too. Next time if someone like this calls you do not answer and definitely do not give out your personal information!
Someone calling claiming to be from the IRS has been leaving messages once or twice a week saying we owe money. He got my name incorrect so my husband let him know he had the wrong number. He was persistent so my husband ask him not to call our number anymore and hung up on him. He had a strong Indian accent. He did have our correct address, and wanted my husband to verify it.
I work at a bank and know that you never give out your personal information to anyone on the phone. IRS will not call you they will contact you by mail.
Got a call from "detective David Cooper from IRS fraud unit" he wanted to hear from me or my attorney and if we did not return his call he wishes us good luck. Very professional ha?!
