IRS tax scam. The caller was claiming that my mother was named in a case involving the IRS. When I asked for the case number, he didn't have one and became angry and defensive. He was aggressively argumentative, with poorly constructed arguments, and a very poor grasp of English. His accent sounded Indian/[***]/Bangladeshi or from that region of the world.
i have been called three times by this number and some male with heavy middle eastern accent claiming to be with the irs. i WANT THIS REPORTED TO SOMEONE! You know it is a scam, but how many people fall for it and maybe pay these fraudulent people??
just received the same phone call. They had my name, phone number and address. I did not give them anything and when I told them this was a scam they got very defensive... Should I be worried? Do I need to alert credit card companies etc???
My brother in law just received a phone call from this No 917-300-3725. The call came on Saturday, very aggressive and firm. Claiming that my brother in law would be arrested on Monday. Made my brother in law to go to the bank at 7 am to get some money. Very heavy Indian accent and his name was something Morgan (I forgot the first name). As I am writhing this he is still calling my brother in law but I told him about the scam and he is not answering the call. Hopefully I am right because he is very scared right now.
This is me again. He is calling back as we speak and I had a long talk with him at first someone by the name of David Johnson was talking, when I ask to talk to the last person, he put back Alex Morgan. I talked to him for long and said to send the police as he claim not on Monday but right now so they can arrest my brother in law and then said I work for FBI and I am tracing the call than he hang up the call.
I received the call last Friday. I was told that my wife had been under investigation for Tax issues. We need to find a lawyer to handle the case. Police will come and arrest her on Saturday. This Monday morning, I call the number and tell them I need to talk to IRS and I need a case number. They are talking to each other using foreign language. Then, one guy tells me my wife owe $2,890 and ask me what I intend to do. I told him I need to talk to the IRS department to find out why because my wife tax return is very simple and is no way for her to owe that much tax. I want the case number and IRS contact number. Then, they hang up the phone.
