Every phone provider profits by providing service to the scammers and won’t shut them down as it would be lost income for them, thus they are aiding and abetting the illegal activity.

I have contacted many of the phone providers and not once have they provided any help to stop these calls.  Each and every time their response has been that the calling number has been spoofed.  How can every scammer spoof a number and the phone companies are doing absolutely nothing about it?  Is this some conspiracy??  Must be!!. All for total profit.

Their ancient technology knows precisely what number each call originates from order to bill them for service (plus taxes) and they also know what data is sent out over their infrastructure in order to determine what number is provided as the spoof number.  The scammers have to pay their phone bill just like we do.  So each and every phone provider is definitely aiding and abetting these scammers. Thus, they can claim the number was spoofed to keep empowering them.

They easily know who the roboterrorists are based on service utilization just by monitoring the bandwidth and frequency of calls made from a single source.  We, the recipients, are all victims of this crime and it’s high time to fight back – so if you actually talk to a human, identify them by asking for their address so you can send them a check, and then hang up.  Now you have some ammunition to file a complaint sans spoofing, hopefully.

The DNC law works only for honest callers.  Federal and State laws need to be enacted to guide the phone providers in terminating the illegal roboactivity and phone scams – put the onus on the providers and not the honest users!  And lessen our bills as well.

Also, why not sue the phone providers for their inaction to pull the plug on the phone terrorists?  A fantastic class action suit awaits a great attorney team on this one, because it appears that neither Federal nor State authorities give a damn to protect us and openly permit the phone companies to continually profit from your life being interrupted.

Oh, I did forget to mention that the phone providers have steadfastly refused to provide call blocking citing the fact that their customers would miss important calls that they would not want blocked.  What?  The phone companies are regulating who we can talk with?  Sounds like a 2nd Amendment issue, censorship, and a dictatorship just to let the scammers strip us of our funds and sanity.

Many robocalls originate on the Verizon network and thru their subsidiary companies and affiliates such as Cellco.  Of course, Sprint, Level 3, Cavalier, Embarq, T-mobile, and Cingular (to name a few) are also co-scamming providers.  What if these scammers might even be related to phone company employees, executives or worse yet, terrorist organizations that raise funds to support their cause?

Finally, contact the Consumer Union (Consumer Reports) site www.EndRobocalls.org and sign their petition to pressure the phone companies and lobby the government. It won’t cost you a cent!  July 2015 news articles indicate Verizon is going to screw us more during their attempt to deregulate communications services and fees which could cost us considerably more by buying into their anonymous call intercept useless service, etc.

"Many robocalls originate on the Verizon network"  but many more originate overseas with foreign criminals using cheap voip service, spoofing North American numbers.  How do you expect US telecom companies to locate and stop them?

Answered and heard the recorded message from "Card Member Services" saying it was the "final notice" to lower the interest rate on "your credit card." Scam clear as day, so I pressed 1 to talk to a representative. :)

A foreign sounding man answered and gave his short pitch, and I acted naive and grateful. He said he would get my card info so he could look up my latest statement, see the exact amount due, and then tell me by how much he could lower my rate. I gave him a bogus exp date, and then a bogus card number. He said the number did not show up in his database and asked me to confirm. I acted ditzy and told him I switched the last two digits. Of course, it still didn't work. So I "corrected" a couple other digits. He seemed to be getting a little irritated that it still wasn't coming up as a valid card number, and read it back to me 3 or 4 times, me confirming the whole time.
Finally, I told him that I actually just wanted to waste a few minutes of his time, because I know that this is a scam and there are people who fall for it, so I hoped that by taking up a few minutes, maybe I could prevent one person from being scammed today.

I fully expected him to hang up on me right away, but he didn't. He tried to convince me that it was legit and they got my referral from the credit bureaus, etc. I don't him I don't even HAVE a mastercard. He didn't quite know what to say so I went on for a couple more minutes. I advised him to rethink his career choice and try to support his family in an honest way, rather than scamming innocent victims. He STILL tried to backpedal and say it is an honest service, and I told him sorry, I don't buy it. NO legitimate company would cold call you and ask you to provide your credit card information over the phone. I reiterated the honest living advice. He finally said, "Ok thank you ma'am. Have a nice day."

Who knows, maybe he'll actually rethink what he's doing. Long shot, but maybe. :)
