Received a call from 917-387-1153; I missed the call --however, the caller left a professional sounding message (actually an automated recording in a female's voice) indicating that I was being sued by the IRS. I wasn't concerned because I'm not aware that the IRS calls anyone; they typically conduct business via letter. Long story short, I called the number & reached a voice recording of a male with a heavy Asian accent. Funny enough, Verizon identified the number as belonging to a specific female, whom I do not know. Big time SCAM! Do not fall for it.
They left an official sounding message, but as I have relatives and friends who work for the government, I am confident this is a scam. You say they "sounded Chinese"? Wonder if it's related to the hacking of the OPM site. (Office of Personnel Management) BTW, don't fall for the highly politicized message now floating around that government servers are immune to hacking and that private servers are less safe-it could be just the opposite...
